Das werde ich manchmal im Hinblick auf meine Entscheidung Dominikanerin zu sein und zu werden, gefragt. Und mit der Frage verhält es sich wie mit dem Verliebtsein; man kann es einfach nicht erklären. Bei einer Person liebe ich ja auch nicht bestimmte Eigenschaften, sondern die ganze Person. Zwar hatte ich schon bestimmte Vorstellungen oder Kriterien für den zu mir passenden Orden, aber es war weniger ein Suchen von mir als ein "Sich-Finden-Lassen".
Den Dominikanerorden habe ich kennen gelernt als ich 19 Jahre alt war und das Theologiestudium in Freiburg begonnen hab. Zwar schwirrte der Klostergedanke schon mit 15 in meinem Kopf herum, aber den Orden des hl. Dominikus hatte ich dabei überhaupt nicht auf dem Schirm. In Freiburg hab ich mich schnell in St. Martin, einer Gemeinde der Dominikaner, beheimatet gefühlt und hab mich daraufhin näher mit dem Orden befasst.
Fasziniert und nachhaltig beeindruckt hat mich dabei zweierlerei: Erstens, dass Dominikus einen Predigerorden gegründet hat, von ihm selbst aber keine einzige Predigt oder andere bedeutende Texte überliefert sind. Er war ein Mensch, der ganz auf Christus verwiesen hat und dem es nicht um sich, sondern um das Evangelium ging. Und dies zeigt sich auch heute im Orden durch den schlichten und bodenständigen, und trotzdem nicht indifferenten Umgang mit dem hl. Dominikus.
Zweitens: die (theologische) Weite des Ordens. Die Suche nach der Wahrheit ist gleichsam die Identität des Dominikanerordens und ich habe es immer so erlebt, dass alle Fragen gestellt werden dürfen; dass es keine Denkverbote gibt. Und das ist wichtig, wenn man sich auf die Suche nach der Wahrheit macht. Besonders in der Geschichte des Ordens sieht man diese Weite: Von der Mystik Meister Eckharts bis zu theologischen Hochleistungen eines Thomas von Aquin; vom malenden Fra Angelico bis zum Naturwissenschaftler Albertus Magnus hat alles seinen Platz und steht alles im Dienst des Evangeliums. Und das großartigste finde ich ist, dass sich der Orden seit seiner Gründung noch nie gespalten hat. Gerade für die Kirche unserer Zeit ist es so wichtig diese Weite und Einheit zu bewahren.
Die Farben des Ordens sind zwar schwarz-weiß, aber das Denken nicht und das ist einer der Gründe, weshalb ich Dominikanerin bin. Meine Gottsuche soll eine wirkliche Suche sein und keine, in der man schon alle Antworten dogmatisch kennt, weiß wie Gott zu sein hat und was wie geglaubt werden muss. Ich halte grundsätzlich viel von der Lehre der Kirche, aber sie muss selbst erobert, geprüft, durchdacht und in Frage gestellt und nicht einfach auswendig gelernt werden. Und ich glaub im Predigerorden bin ich mit dieser Sehnsucht ganz gut aufgehoben. Deshalb ist der Dominikanerorden für mich der beste Orden der Welt. Man müsste ihn erfinden, wenn es ihn nicht schon gäbe ;)
